Subject: Getting the imstt video card to work

I have a Mac clone Umax S900 w/ 2 scsi drives at 2GB each, 80MB RAM and an
IMSTT 4MB card. I am running YDL2.0 and when I had YDL 1.2 I was able to
get XFree86 to use the video card directly and so far I haven't been able to
get the card to work in YDL2.
I have tried getting Xconfigurator to set it up but when I select imstt
instead of the fbdev X refuses to work and gives me an error like "No video
device on PCI:0,3,0" (I am doing this from memory and the error message
might be different)
Fbdev works fine just slower than I would like. I have heard that the
architecture of my machine might prevent X from seeing the video card. Is
this true? Is there a way to force it to see it? Should I get another
video card? XFree86 3.x was able to see it and use it (just took some going
through hoops).
