Read in the Linux on PPC FAQ-O-Matic
( http://lppcfom.sourceforge.net/fom-serve/cache/792.html ) :

(Quote)
BootX Crashes With Mac OS 9.0
-----------------------------
This is a known issue with Mac OS 9.0 and BootX 1.1.3 (the lastest
version currently). The next version of BootX will fix it.

...

I have successfully installed LinuxPPC on my Sawtooth G4 and am using
BootX 1.2b3 with no problems.

Since BootX that comes with YDL is 1.2.3, it should work with Mac OS 9.x.

For me, it does work with Mac OS 9.2.1 at least.

Cheers,
Geert
