Make sure that portmap is running on both machines and that on the server
rpc.nfsd, rpc.quotad, rpc.mountd are running and registered with portmap.
You can check what's registered (and where) with /usr/sbin/rpcinfo.
Other than that, you may have issues in the NFS server. The 2.2 series
kNFS server, is well... substandard :)
