I just started my Linux adventure yesterday and have not yet begun to
get my feet on the ground regarding where to find the best reference
material.

I am having problems connecting to my local network using a 7500/100 and
a Netgear RT314. Could you please give me some pointers?

Thanks,
Howard Pohl

The name of the driver for the MACE ethernet controller is simply
mace. The source code is drivers/net/mace.c, the built module
filename is mace.o. There is also a "macmace" driver in the kernel
for the older version of mace used in 68K Macs; it's not relevant to
PowerMacs.

Whether or not you have a MACE depends on your Mac model. Basically
all of the first generation PCI PowerMacs and relatives use MACE.
Beige G3s have BMAC. B&W G3 and early iMac have BMAC+. AGP Macs
have either a DEC Tulip or a GMAC, depending on vintage.
