IIRC, a compressed kernel is required to boot older Wintel boxes
because of a legacy memory issue (I've heard it said related to the
old DOS 640k limit, but I have no idea if this is true). It may still
be true in new Wintel boxes.

Anyway, there is no lock on the name "zImage." You can make one on
PPC by using "make zImage" in place of "make vmlinux."
