hear hear--i've also tried to configure my iMac DV, which I know can
handle resolutions higher than 800x600, but every effort to tinker with
/etc/X11/XF86Config won't get X started at all. I am happy that it
works, but the 800x600 setting is unwieldy for KDE. I've tinkered with
XF86Config before, to get a Caldera box running, so I know how the setup
should look, but obviously I don't know enough and would appreciate a
hand. . . .

side note: The problem with KDE went away after I reinstalled the whole
thing. Heh. If it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer.

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot =], how do I configure the
box so i can surf the net as a non-superuser?

peace

philippe
