That's probably it : )
This is a guess, and someone will surely correct me, but the first
thing I'd do check /etc/hosts. (more /etc/hosts). It should (I
think) at least say:
127.0.0.1 localhost localdomain

Mine also says:
my.ip.addy my.fullyqualifieddomainname.org myhostname

Yours might say either nothing more than the 127.0.0.1 etc...or it
might have an additional line (but I doubt it). Maybe you want to
add a line with your IP addy and the rest of the info. Except "the
rest of the info" is your host and domain names. So I don't know
what to tell ya. Someone who knows more probably knows a workaround.
Maybe you can simply add your IP addy without a host name and a fully
qualified domain name.
