I feel your pain. I've been trying to get past the same problem, except on
an IBM RS/6000. Some people at IBM think it might be a video card support
issue (??). Maybe try getting a kernel from another distro and see if that
boots. You can try Debian's at Sunsite.unc.edu's ftp
site. /pub/linux/distributions/debian/main/disks-powerpc/current/powermac.
  The kernel and other helpful stuff is in that folder. If it boots, then
t's a kernel issue. If it doens't, it's most likely something with your
computer.
