I am slowly but surely making my way into installing, and eventually compling kernels. However, I need to know some very basic things (I sure feel silly asking these things that I do blindly on the MacOS, but anyhow)

I d/l the following necessary utilities for compiling a kernel to my root folder:

autoconf-2.13.tar.gz
automake-1.4.tar.gz
gcc-2.95.2.tar.gz

I know I have to unstuff and install but Im not sure how or if there is a special folder of doing it right.

I appreciate all help.

Tony
