I have a new iMac with sound properly installed and
runnning, but when I play a music CD I get no audio
output.

I am new to Apple hardware, but in the past with Linux
and PC hardware the CD player had a cable to the sound
board etc.

Is there something I am missing?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
