java and Open Office

I'm attempting to install Open Office but it comes up with a java error,
can't find it. As I loaded the home/office setup, is java actually there
or do I need to load that from somewhere else? There doesn't appear to
be anything in the readme file for installation.
Would someone point me in the right direction, ie what/where is the java
to use, or where is it available for download.
