Palm sync, addendum

One more thing I forgot earlier -- I've set permissions on /dev/ttyS0
such that all have read/write access, and, when I try to sync, I see a
repeat of the serial driver version in /var/log/messages:

kernel: Serial driver version 5.05c (2001-07-08) with MANY_PORTS
SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI enabled

Again, any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marc
