Your papd.conf file should look like this:

lpr 5 Creative:\
:pr=|/usr/bin/lpr -P5Creative:\
:op=netatalk:pd=/etc/atalk/ppds/HPLaserJet4V:

You should be piping the print request to lpr the program and not lpr
the spool directory.
