I noticed that after running Xconfigurator, it seemed to bring up KDE fine, although with a black
video display, so I saved the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. I restored the frame buffer with the
default "fbset 1280x1024-75" remotely.

So then I tried running Xautoconfig4, this blacked out and then returned with a live screen. The
errors had to do with fonts and stuff, but the video was NOT blanked. I also saved this
XF86Config-4 file. So I hacked out the good monitor stuff from the second and put into the first.
I got a working video without other X errors. Whoopee.

I am only capable of 1280x1024-75 video mode, but it is working. Thanks for the info.
