Thanks for the quick reply, Dan.

I was relying on the installation guide included with the 2.1
distibution CDs (Rev 2001 10/16), the last page of which states:

"LCD: The Apple LCD display (with the Apple Display Connector (ADC))
will function if at the yaboot prompt ... you enter:
linux-video=aty128fb:vmode:14. This is necessary if you are working
with a Cube or G4 with an ADC video card and Apple LCD display."

It seems the guide has gotten a bit ahead of the distribution?
