one possibility, relatively low-tech. Keep a tarball (.tar.Z or .tar.gz aka
.tgz) of two sets: one being a complete clean install, and the other an up
to date full backup (Or do it in segments, for ex: /dev as dev.tgz, /home
as home.tgz), which you kep on a mac partition (off the lnux box) shared
ONLY with retrospect and the linux atalk client This partition will then be
backed up by retrospect, and can be configured to mount on the YDL box at
root login, or at some other time. With careful shell-scripting, you can
also create shell script to run the whole backup process. (I've seen this
done on other un*x's, specifically freebsd/386). The reason for the clean
is so that you can extract only differences should you have a fatal crash
which requires a complete clean install.

Another would be to use a novel backup system, but, these are frequently
quite unfriendly.

a third would be to actually archive to tape or additional high-capacity hd
on the system.
