I have an 8GB internal and a 18GB expansion bay drive. (Total 26GB.) The expansion bay drive is WAY faster than the internal (like 4-5 x), which is why I wanted OS X on it. But, alas, that isn't gonna happen.... I ended up repartitioning my internal (via pdisk - I merged a few extra partitions), and everything is running very well now - I'm using Mail.app! :)
