A stab with this caveat: I don't have YDL 2.0.

You're a man that doesn't tolerate much extraneous discussion, but
allow me to briefly digress:

2.2.18 was the first kernel IMHO that had decent input layer support,
but the compile config was buggy; that is, IMHO input layer was not
properly decoupled from USB support, and IIRC you had to turn on USB
support to get to the input layer, and even then it was a bit
questionable at times what was happening. And this was all with
bleeding-edge ppc branches, Lord help you if you were trying it with
kernel.org source.

I know, I went through all of it with 2.2.18 and some discussion on
linuxppc-dev, and eventually got a lot of advice to just switch to
2.4.x, which I did.

My longwinded point is, I never tried 2.2.19, and I don't know if
it's safe to assume that these things were completely fixed with it.
After all, 2.2.19 was the end of the line for 2.2, no? I'd think (?)
Terrasoft tested 2.2.19 for a basic compile, but if the input layer
is turned off in their default config file (as you seem to imply),
I'd be wary.

Despite your dismissal, the previous advice for 2.4.x:

>#
># Input core support
>#
>CONFIG_INPUT=y
>CONFIG_INPUT_KEYBDEV=y
>CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV=y
>CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV_SCREEN_X=1024
>CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV_SCREEN_Y=768
># CONFIG_INPUT_JOYDEV is not set
>CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV=y

was pretty much spot on, but possibly incomplete; I do admit to not
remembering well as I have left 2.2.x far behind. I wouldn't be
confidant that a 2.2.19 kernel would build or work properly if you
tweaked beyond the default config... Depends on how much Terrasoft
tweaked it, and whether they really had their hearts into testing it
well.

Don't take my advice, but if you want input layer, go to 2.4.x and
its own set of difficulties (2.4.10 -now- is the first one I've had
fairly smooth sailing with; even if I had YDL 2.0 I wouldn't use
their 2.4.x kernel, especially if I was going to tweak the compile).

BTW, not knocking Terrasoft...

HTH & YMMV & crawling back into my hole...
