This - I believe, indicates the drive is improperly formatted -

Again, try booting from a CD - if all you have is 8.0 then use that -
Next zero the drive - do a complete reformat - not a quickie.

create 3 partitions, install MACOS on the last partition, create 2 "linux
home" partitions - after you have installed OS8 - go get apple's updated
disk tools from their website - or use fwb hdt if you have it.

Anyway - update the disk drivers, then use the YDL installer and use the
"custom" install mode with graphical install interface, once you get to the
disk partitioning section, delete the two "linux home" partitons, make two
new ones, 256 meg one for /swap and the rest for /.

It should - if the disk image is good (did you make sure it was a binary
download?) complete the install.
