yup error

I've just installed the the latest version of yup (yup-0.7.6-2.noarch.rpm,
installed by manual ftp then rpm ...). It appears to be failing with an
unspecified error; i.e.:

  % /usr/sbin/yup update vim
  Reading RPM database... (100%)
  Performing dependencies sanity check...
  Checking for package list updates...

  Error:
  %

It's entirely possible that this is due to a user error. This is the first
time I've tried using yup. Any suggestions?
