I was actually going to send a message on that earlier. I've confirmed
that if you boot using the option key route on a Ti powerbook networking
won't work if you are set up for DHCP addressing (you get the PHY
message or other indications of failure depending on kernel version).
However if you have a fixed ethernet address booting works fine. This
occurs with all the kernels I've tried (The YDL kernels (including Dan's
experimental ones), and the benh and BK trees up to the latest rev's).
It looks like OF is doing (or not doing) something different than normal
when you boot that way. It's been an annoyance but since it works fine
if you're not using the option boot route I haven't bothered with it
much. I think the same problem exists on my B&W 733 G4, but I can't
test it right now.
