Subject: kanga eth0 in 2.4.4-1a

I got ydl 2.0 installed on a kanga (orig pb g3); However I running the
2.4.4-1a kernel I get eth0 timeouts.
The messages in the log show:
kernel: NEDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
kernel: eth0: 21041 transmit timed out, status fc678052, CSR12 1c8,
CSR13, ffffef05, CSR14 ffffff3f, resetting..
The 2.2.19 ydl kernel doesnt run on the kanga. I grabbed the suse
kernels to get booted and installed ydl2.0... I've run into the problem
previouslyl reported of the 2.4.9 kernels not building due to a
compile errror in the vt module (kbd_rate undefined).
I tried rebuilding the 2.4.4-1a kernel and get the same eth0 timeout failure.
So while I'm sitting here trying to build other kernels I figure I'd
ask if anyone knows of a fix for the 2.4.4-1a, or the 2.4.9 kernel to
get it to compile?
Meantime I'm trying the 2.4.8 kernel....
