Subject: XConfigurator broke my X

I know I should be thankful for what I've got, but...
I'm running YDL 1.2.1 on a 7200/90. The install set up the X
configurations, and X was running fine, except that it was displaying
only 256 colors on my Apple Multiscan 15 Display. So, I thought I'd
run XConfigurator and try to get thousands of colors at 832 x 624
(which is what I get running on the Mac OS). Unfortunately, using the
newly generated XF86Config file, startx doesn't run at all. "Server
broken, no valid modes."
Can anyone help get me back into X?
