As regards this problem, and possibly your other problem, if you are
running the stock YDL 2.0 (you didn't say which version or distro), the
modutils package is broken if you haven't updated it. It is missing
/sbin/genksyms, which if not present will cause your module loading to
fail (not sure if it does in every circumstance but in my experience it
does) unless you turn versioned symbols off in your kernel config (another
solution, probably not the better one). The easiest thing to do is to go
to the Yellodog rpm site (update folder I believe) and download the latest
version of modutils. Just update with rpm -Uvh modutilsxxxxx.rpm and then
check to make sure that the genksyms binary is there. Then I believe you
need to recompile the kernel; someone correct me if I'm wrong there. Your
modules should work after that. I obviously had this exact problem on an
iBook2.
