This is a real beginner question, but I can not find basic information
anywhere. I have checked various HowTo and readme's from applications as well as
a linux book or two.

How can I play audio cd's under ydl? I have and can run kscd, gcd and several
other players. These routines do not recognize the cd in the drive. The drive
spins for a bit but does not play the cd.

Details: Tibook, G4, ydl2.0. The cdrom is mounted as /mnt/cdrom with device
/dev/cdrom (also tried /dev/hdc). I tried an explicit mount (as root) with -t
auto but the device would not mount unless given type information. I do not know
the type for music cd's. On startup I can read iso9660 disks without an explicit
mount instruction. /etc/fstab has a mount for the cdrom with type auto and user
permission. I think the problem is that the drive will only recognize iso9660
cdroms. I am sure I have done something dumb in the setup, but I can not find
where.

Needless to say, I can play cds on the macos side so there is something wrong
with the mount instruction on the linux side.

Thanks in advance for your help.
