thanks for that last bit of advice, i thought i did everything correctly
until i saw:

VFS: Cannot open root device 00:00
Kernal Panic:VFS
Unable to mount fs on 00:00
Rebooting....

I'm planning on seeing this install through, I see I'm
going to need more help than I thought.

For all the kind souls willing to help, please remember I'm not too
smart and I need clarity of explanation....

System info- powerbook g3 ydl cd 1.1
I have created a /, /usr, /home and swap partition plus the apple hfs (not
hfs+)
If you need any other info- just ask...
