David,

I saw similar messages when performing my installation. It turned out
that I was using a kernel that just didn't work with my PB G3. My laptop
is at work at the moment, but I believe that I am using a 2.2.10 kernel.
I'm not real sure whether my YDL is 1.0 or 1.1. Either way, for my money
it's your kernel. Hope this helps.
