I got ydl running on my wall street powerbook (kernel 2.2.6) and I ran into
a snag. After running startx the gui enviroment started but I am missing the
panel element. It is disconcerting to say the least. It's like not having
the finder on my mac! Another sticky point is, without the control panel, I
am unable to work with X-Windows. I haven't learned how to use the dial-up
feature yet so the ever popular download the latest x-windows config is not
yet an option. Of course, if this is my only solution-i'll learn how to get
online and download faster that I intended. I don't think my version of
x-windows is the problem because the first time i installed ydl, my
x-windows had a control panel. any light you can shine will help as i am
completely in the dark, being very new to Linux.
