Strongly recommend you grab the newest version XFree86 3.3.5-1.6.0c from
ftp://dev.linuxppc.org/users/trini/XFree86-3.3.5/RPMS/ppc/.

That's because I was assuming you had the latest version, as recommended
by the error message when XFree86 dies. Set up the new version for 8, 15
or 24 bit depths.
