Subject: Linux Drivers General Question...

Here is something that I have pondered for a while....
Why don't manufacturers of hardware products (mice, hard drives, graphic accelerators, etc) support the Linux community and release some info to help us develop drivers. Seems to me that this would make a wise business decision because it expands there market.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
