Hello,

I download the JDK 1.2.2 from a mirror site found on www.blackdown.org, and get the following error when running "java":

/usr/local/jdk1.2.2/bin/ppc/native_threads/java: error in loading shared libraries: /usr/local/jdk1.2.2/jre/lib/ppc/native_threads/libhpi.so: symbol sem_wait, version GLIBC_2.1 not defined in file libpthread.so.0 with link time reference

The file I downloaded is called "jdk-1.2.2-RC4-linux-ppc-glibc-2.1.3.sh". The README file stated that it required glibc 2.1.3 in order to work, so I found an RPM called "glibc-devel-2.1.3-4b.ppc.rpm" and installed it as an upgrade. Running "rpm -qa" showed both versions "glibc-2.1.1-6h" and "glibc-devel-2.1.3-4b" . Is this normal?

Does anyone know what is causing the error?

Thanks for any help.

John Wheeler.
