Hello,

It's me again, with the same newbie problem. I d/l the new tulip.c
driver from the asante support sight for the 590 card. I then put it in the
directory /usr/src/linux/drivers/net and followed Ed Jaeger's commands:
(Thanx Ed)

# cd /usr/src/linux
# make menuconfig
# make dep clean vmlinux modules modules_install
# cp vmlinux /boot/vmlinux-2.2.6
# cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.2.6
# cp vmlinux /mnt/macvol/System\ Folder/Linux\ Kernels/vmlinux-2.2.6
# (assuming you use BootX) <-- I put it on floppy and put
it in MacOS Systems folder.
# cd /boot
# rm vmlinux
# rm System.map
# ln -s vmlinux-2.2.6 vmlinux
# ln -s System.map-2.2.6 System.map

I get a kernel panic and reboot after 180 seconds. (A linux "BSOD") hmm..
It comes right away if I put the new kernel in the MacOS System Folder. If
I use my old kernel in MacOS, it will get to the "Starting NFS Daemon" and
then spit out a whole lot of numbers and then the kernel panic occurs. Any
ideas?

BTW, what type of PCI cards will be autodetected by YDL? Any brand/model? I
may just get a card. I've compiled the kernel a number of time already. Sigh. =P
