Hi - and thanks for responding. Sorry I've been away from this for a few
days - major, inconvenient server crash Tuesday afternoon kinda took
precedence (nothing to do wityh Linux) ;-)
Anyway I discovered I'd inadvertently deleted some of the kernel source,
which PHP needed - all is now working fine, except I feel kinda dumb...
