i have the same problem and haven't solved it yet. at
first i thought it was because /dev/modem wasn't
linked to the correct device file, but i tried a
couple of them (like /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1) which
were recommended to me and that didn't fix it. what
else could cause this?
