Joe,

If your computer is a B/W G3, then it has the solution for your exact
problem in the back of the YDL manual. It says to either check
http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/ydl_support.html for a new kernal or type
"hda=noautotune hdb=noautotune" into the kernal arguments in BootX.

Otherwise I have no idea :)
