At the very least try,

mount -t hfs /mnt/cdrom

or maybe

mount -t hfs /dev/devicenumber /mnt/cdrom (you may need to mkdir
this last
dir)

if your install can't deal with the "hfs" type, then I can't help you ;)

Make sure you let us know exactely what files it says are missing. Makes
it easier to troubleshoot...
