./configure and gcc

Hey,

I was trying to compile X11amp for my PPC machine (since they only offered
intel RPMs).

Anyways, when ./configure gets to checking out GCC, it says it finds GCC,
but that gcc can't do executables.... and exits with that error.

in the past (particularly when I "./configured" a proggy called August),
this wasn't a problem.

What can I do? I want X11amp!!!!
