When I was troubleshooting ppp, I found minicom to be very useful. My
current setup (although not on a G3 powerbook) is to use modified versions
of the scripts provided in /usr/doc/ppp-2.3.5/scripts to dial up and
logon. I tried some other programs, but gave up after I ran into
trouble and read the ppp docs in frustration, which helped me set this
method up.
