hmmm... kppp works ok for me after the second attempt at conenction. I
try the first time and it dials and logs in. it gets to "connecting to
network" when the messages "modem ready" appears and it starts again.

These problems may be related. If you set you stuff up in a fashion
outlined at the tutorial at www.imaclinux.net and see what happens.

I have successfully connected using kppp with files set up to his spec.
