In addition to the xmodmap, you can also change over to using xkb for your
keyboard mappings (Tom has instructions as part of the 2.2.10+ kernel
upgrade on http://www.linuxppc.org/BlueG3/g3_kernel_howto.shtml, under "XKB
Patches"). Since upgrading my kernel from 2.2.6-15apmac and switching to
xkb, I now have a correctly-working backward-delete key :)
