All right, since we've gotten on the topic of window managers and the
Gnome/KDE
debate. I feel the need to broach something that has been bothering me.
First,
let me say that in over all use I genuinely prefer Gnome (running
Enlightenment)
to KDE, but I find its "windowsesque" look a little to revolting. So lately,
I've been abusing AnotherLevel with AfterStep heavily. I absolutely love the
NeXTStep/OpenStep look to it, but I'm not sure if it is quite right other than
this. So, is there anything out there that looks and feels even more NeXTish
(other than NeXT of course, which even if i could get hold of wouldn't be too
happy with my G3)? Can I get it to work under anything other than
AnotherLevel?
Mostly, is there a way to avoid this debate? Can I find a way to have
something
that is indistinguishable from NeXT, but that can run both Gnome and KDE? So,
my basic concern is to find something currently available (I don't think
GNUStep
is yet) that will never let me no that the GUI isn't NeXT in origin. Thanks,
I
appreciate any and all help on this. Also, debate freely on the merits of
wanting something like this, I feel that the discourse is healthy and helpful.
