Any additional advice on getting acceleration with X on the new G4's? I
have a patched kernel and I am booting with yaboot using
append="video=aty128fb:vmode:17". Have both Xpmac and FBDev servers from
Kevin's site, but I can't get either to behave. With FBDev, X starts up
but the display is completely scrambled; I have tried about half a dozen
modes and it always looks the same. Xpmac I can get up in one mode, but
it is so flickery it hurts to look at it. In the process of trying
different modes with Xpmac I have managed to crash the machine three times
(kernel panic, not just X locking up). I am using a Studio Display 17,
which appears to be what the XF86Config sample was written for. I assume
I am just doing something stupid somewhere along the line. Any ideas?

Jim
