List of Blue Quirks

Hi,

here's a list of things I found out about running YDL on my blue G3 so far.

System:
B&W G3 350Mhz, DVD option, SCSI adaptec 2930U with zip & jaz 1GB, USB
scanner Astra 1220 U, additional ADB Artpad, MouseStick II and Mouse (yes,
alas, see below). Newest 'public' kernel with G3/Ultra ATA support, etc.
XWindow updated with stuff from YDL Errata page, newest GNOME Stuff from
YDL FTP site, you name it...
Xpmac X driver used because it works together with the 'no video driver
option', and seems to be the only solution for my system so far.

- If you boot right into Linux at startup (BootX dialog), sound works, but
if you use the BootX control panel from within MacOS it doesn't (my earlier
statement saying the new kernel wouldn't support sound was therefore
erroneous...)
- under X (Xpmac) the USB mouse is dead, only ADB mice seem to work (might
the mouse be hardcoded to '/dev/adbmouse'?)
- under X the USB keyboard seems to work, needed just a special xmodmap (by
yours truly...)
- if an additional ADB keyboard is attached, the USB keyboard ignores any
special keymap in text mode and returns to US layout.
- When I set my timezone to 'Europe/Zurich', I get a clock which is 2 hours
in advance. I think this is caused by the assumption of the system
(kernel?), that my system clock is set to Greenwich Mean Time (although I
unchecked that option during the installation). Instead it is Central
Europe Time (1 hour plus) and Daylight Saving Time (plus another hour). For
the time being I set my time zone to 'Iceland' which seems to do the trick
so far. (This whole thing never presented a problem to my trusty old 7100
running MkLinux DR3...)

And the diggin' continues (great fun, really!)

Cheers
