Subject: newbie need help

May I ask how can I go into X Windows? I mean to use the GUI instead of
the command shell.
I type /startx and got this execve failed /etc/X11/X (errno 2)
I type /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup-) I got Error: cannot open display Xbanner:
couldn't open display
Did I do something wrong? How could I go into a GUI environment right at
startup?
