Ok,

I tried both mmaps and the type.

Didn't get it to work. Doesn't seem to matter, if I boot up in 2.2.6, it
works like a charm. If I boot up in 2.2.12, it doesn't ;) (with the
changed settings)

might wait for the tools... Then see what happens...

oh, and were in XF86Config can I SAFELY up the refresh rate on my iMac
monitor in 1024x768? The current refresh is killing me. The 800x600 one
is ok.

Is the refresh in Linux currently the same as MacOS?

If so, then I can bear 95Hz. 75Hz is too low....
