I would tend to disagree, they both have a purpose, however it's up
to you to decide which is more important to you.

Seti is a neat project, which I doubt will come to much success, as
the SETI project is working from a very small set of data that was
captured from the radio telescope. They are only looking for a very
strong signal, and in fact could have passed over an actual signal and
never known it, because it didn't match the search criteria.

RC5 on the other hand, has a direct impact on government policies
and mindsets on encryption. Since it's inception many of the so called
"secure" standards, have been proven to not be so secure.

My point? One of these has a direct impact on your life, as a user
of modern technology. The other does not.
