Now i've got it to boot, but the monitor setting (xconfigurator?) seem to be messed up because the screen scrolls and duplicates itself and wraps around, making very hard to see anything to figure out how to fix it. i believe it was set to launch into xwindow.
after 2 days into it, the 'rock solid' installer seems to be less than i hoped for.
