I never tried Xautoconfig while running in 16 bit, but Xconfigurator would set up a
XFConfig with a requested depth of 24 even though I'd requested 16. I've tried this
several times, and can duplicate it any time. At first I thought that perhaps I'd
downloaded an incorrect version of Xconfigurator, but I tried the correct one again and
reinstalled it with rpm -Uvh --force Xconfig*.rpm. Not sure why it's not working, but
I'll help to iron it out any way I can. I'll reboot later in 16 bit and try
Xconfigurator again.
