I am using the no video driver option as this particular machine is a PowerBook
G3.

I have tried establishing a ppp session by dialing up via minicom, loging in,
exiting without reset and starting pppd. pppd runs for about 30 seconds and then
drops the line.

Using linuxconf, the connection comes up, I can see pppd running using ps -aux,
but the ppp0 interface does not come up so there is no way to route the traffic.

The problem seems to be ppp0 not coming up, and dmesg is giving me no indication
that PPP is even installed, although the old kernel config file tells me that it
was supposed to be compiled. So basically I have PPP support in my kernal but it's
"hidding".

As far as starting up a new kernel under BootX, I'd like some help on that too.

Thanks again,

Greg

(starting to look like ping-pong isn't it?)
