I'm working through this myself, right now getting yaboot and the
updated vmlinux from YDL's site booting off my standard Mac partition.

In open firmware, try boot: hda:11,yaboot.tbxi rather than hd:11.
Seem the OF knows that drive as hda rather than hd.
